Interim Rev. Dr. Lee Van Rensburg

Rev. Dr. Lee van Rensburg was born in Cape Town, South Africa. He was ordained as an Elder in the South African Methodist Church and served several church’s over a period 10 years. Awarded a scholarship to Drew University, NJ he did his thesis on Jesus use of Humor in his teachings. Later he served in the Greater NJ Conference until his retirement in 2007. Following retirement he worked with Educational Opportunities, a Christian Travel company, as Director of Hospitality ministry in Tiberius on the Sea of Galilee. Living on site for several months per year. Lee and his wife Bonnie, have lived accumulatively for three and a half years in the Galilee. Also in the Fall of each year they worked on Mediterranean Cruises visiting the Lands of the Bible and Footsteps of St. Paul´s ministry. Unfortunately this all ended with the onset of COVID. Two years ago they moved from the Poconos down South to Sun City, Bluffton.

They worshipped at COTP during the “Lord´s Sheep Dog” days with Pastor Pete, and are delighted to be invited to return to share Word and Sacrament on Sundays at Church of the Palms. Beginning this Sunday, the first Sunday in Advent, Rev. Lee will be journeying with The Palms all the way through the seasons of the liturgical calendar until June 2025.
