tower01sqThe bell tower will finally be refinished starting next week. This means NO parking will be allowed on the paved areas while the crew is painting.
This is to avoid any damage to YOUR car due to overspray of the oil-based paint being used.

Barriers will clearly indicate when it is ok to park on the pavement and when it is not. Space will be available in the gravel lot, a little further away from the building. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Dual Citizenship?
Matthew 22:15-22

This Sunday, October 22, we are challenged by the words of Jesus as captured in Matthew 22:15-22. In this dramatic encounter between the Pharisees and Herodians, Jesus is presented with what seems like a no-win question - to whom do we owe our loyalty? Instead of falling into the trap of an assumingly honest inquiry, Jesus responds with an answer that continues to call our own actions and priorities into question.

Jesus simply says give to the source of what you have, the part they are due. The issue under this response is how and whom do we see as the source of all that we have and all that we are. Could it be we are to live as though we have dual citizenship?

Come this Sunday as we dive deeper into this difficult and yet relevant issue that Jesus first presented in his time.

healingservice01sqThe Healing Prayer Ministry of Church of the Palms is offering an evening service of Prayers for Healing on November 5 at 7 pm.

The New Testament tells us that Jesus often healed the sick, the estranged, the lost, last, and the least. He sent out his disciples to pray for and anoint the sick as well.

Members of the community at large are invited to join us as we gather to pray for renewal, balance in our in our world, in our nation, in our communities, relationships, and wholeness of body, mind, and spirit.

Some of our Prayer Warriors will be on hand to pray with you. Mark your calendars to be with us!

clcconstruct2017101801sqThe siding of the Christian Life Center is nearing completion. Inside, the ceiling grids are being hung which permits installation of the heating and cooling system vents.

The work on the current building continues with the old room divider and beam being removed so that the wider hall wall can be constructed.

The members of the Building Committee are focusing on details related to the installation of flooring, delivery of cabinets, and kitchen equipment.

jeremiah01sqThe Brothers! Thursday morning breakfast and Bible study continue their study of Jeremiah on Thursday, October 19, at Jeremiah 52:1.  Gathering starts at 8 a..m. with the study starting at 8:30 a.m. and concluding by 9 a.m.

The second of the major prophets, the book of Jeremiah is a challenge to conscience and a comfort to the wounded in body and spirit. The book addresses the destruction of Judah and the capital Jerusalem by Babylon’s armies but also strives to move beyond this historical milestone to a new future.

The book of Jeremiah seeks to defend God from charges of being unjust, uncaring, or unable to protect God’s people. Instead the responsibility of the people and their failure to “listen” is brought front and center.

Come join the Brothers! each Thursday morning, with breakfast from 8 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. and a study of Jeremiah from 8:30 a.m. - 9 a.m.

Additional details on The Brothers! available online.

railofferring01Here at Church of the Palms we carry on the practice from early years of the Christian church when people were encouraged to bring "offerings for the poor" to their celebration of the Lord's Supper.

Such monetary gifts offered, and then left on the communion railing (often referred to as a "rail offering"), are placed in a special fund for use in providing assistance to those in the community, as well as those in our own congregation facing extraordinary financial challenges.
