The purpose of the Music Ministry at Church of the Palms is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through song, encourage believers in their walk with Christ, lead the congregation in worship and provide an avenue through which individuals may share their gift and be an integral part of the worship.
Adult Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir practice is on Thursday at 6:30-7 p.m. (Praise), 6:30-7 p.m. (Traditional), and 7:30-8:p.m. (Cantata). Choir practice is open to everyone whether you read music or not. Members also share their musical talent in a variety of forms throughout the year performing, playing instruments or singing special music during the worship service.
Children's Celebration Choir
Our children, ages 7-12, share their gifts as a choir, called Celebration, with a musical anthem once a month during our morning worship. Celebration runs from September to May and rehearses in the sanctuary with Norma Brown, Music Director at Church of the Palms, after the Sunday morning worship
A percussion group, ages 12 and up, utilizing the Djembe drum provides musical accompaniment to the choirs. Percussionality runs from September to May and rehearses in the Sunday School classroom with Kathy Bernston after Sunday morning worship.
The choir is currently working on the Christmas Cantata, One Silent Night by Pepper Choplin.
There is a three-octave handchime choir very active at Church of the Palms known as the Royal Chimers. The Royal Chimers play during Sunday worship once a month. Practice is on Wednesday mornings at 9:45-10:45 a.m. Everyone is welcome to come and join the group whether you read music or not.
